Best Nightlife Areas In Barcelona

In Barcelona, you hardly need an excuse to party all night long, but with some great nightlife areas in the city, it makes it really easy to hop from one venue to the next. The nightlife areas in Barcelona traditionally focus around the plaças or squares in and around the city. Surrounding the historic spots are always a plethora of bars, clubs, lounges, and restaurants, giving the Barcelona denizens endless options to party till the sun comes up. No matter where you go out in Barcelona at night, there will plenty of options on hand, but if you want to make it easy on yourself, check out one of the nightlife areas and jump from venue to venue till you find the perfect place for you.

1) L’Eixample

The L’Eixample is one of the most dynamic and comfortable areas to live in Barcelona. Mainly because there’s always a restaurant, shop, supermarket or bar at walking distance. Generally speaking the closer to Diagonal you get the smoother and more sophisticated the crowd get. For cocktails with a good looking local gathering slide over to Slow Barcelona which also has a suave club upstairs, where you can imbibe some of the best gin or vodka tonics in town, and check out live gigs at the weekends. In this area of town, it pays to dress up a little fancier. Around the area of Arc de Triomf, just a few blocks away from Parc de la Ciutadella, a few new hotspots are opening up, making this one-time social dead zone an increasingly cool area to hang out on a quiet night. One such venue is Firebug, a classy bar-restaurant with great food, vermouths, and a very attractive brunch menu.

2) Olympic Port

Here people come to stroll, to bathe, lunch. In the Casino Barcelona, the best offer of gaming, tournaments, gastronomy and shows just by the Olympic Port. You can also check out Arola restaurant it is located on the second floor of the luxury Hotel Arts. A well-stocked cellar offers over 900 wines. This is magic! And if you are looking for a splendid location with a terrace on the beach not far from the Arts hotel, there is Agua it is part of the successful Tragaluz chain, synonymous of quality.

3) Barrio Gotico

In the lovely but touristic neighborhood of the Gothic Quarter, Barcelona. In this place you can find awesome Tapas Bar, you can visit Bar La Plata it is one of those tiny, authentic Spanish bars. It is one of the oldest tapas bars in Barcelona, where you can feel like a local for a while. La Alcoba Azul is great as well! If you are looking for a stylish bar and eatery then Ocaña is the best place for you. If you’re looking for an authentic evening out in the city’s downtown core, the Harlem Jazz Club and El Paraigua to fabulously way to spend the night. It’s ideal for dinner and drinks followed by an eclectic night club, most of which stay open until the sun comes up.

4) La Rambla / Ciutat Vella

La Rambla starts at the epicenter of Barcelona, Plaça Catalunya (Catalonia Square). It stretches along many important spots you’ll also want to get acquainted with. Las Ramblas, meanwhile, is a wide boulevard and heart of the city that bustles by day with diners and shoppers and really gets going at night with great bars and clubs. One of the best bars is Boadas, It’s Barcelona’s oldest bar, dating back to 1933, and the bartenders dress in fancy tuxedos as they prepare some 60-odd cocktails. There is also Jamboree Jazz, and Le Pop Cocktail Bar experience the effervescent spirit of socializing with the sparkling creations of its master mixologist that add a modern twist to the ritual of cocktail hour.

5) Raval

The heart of the district is the Raval where hip bars like Ambar are interspersed with kebab joints, whilst a more glam crowd congregate at nearby cocktail bars like the Suave Marmalade, where you can order house specials like their ‘Pornstar Martini’ and do some pre-club flirting. Meanwhile, in the area surrounding the MACBA museum, skate fashion rules supreme. Pierced and tattooed kids practice tricks on their boards before later heading down to the Nou de la Rambla, where legendary restaurants like Dos Palillos and Sala Apolo home of the excellent midweek parties known as Nasty Mondays. For something more relaxed, pop into the homely Shenanigans Irish Pub for a pint. Live music every Friday and Saturday nights and always a convivial atmosphere.

6) El Born

El Born is also very central and here you’ll find all manner of trendily-attired night owls crowding into cafes and bars especially in the district’s heart, the Passeig del Born. Check out Miramelindo, for a Cava cocktail, or trawl the backstreets to find hidden hotspots and weird and wonderful surprises like Cat Bar. Don’t think for one second for Gravin Restaurant it is a swanky, cocktail and lives music bar/lounge.

7) Barceloneta

It is an area extremely close to the beach, where you can find cozy restaurants with different types of cuisines and clubs that let their visitors experience the vivid atmosphere of the south. The most pleasant aspect of Barceloneta is that you can be amazed by its great views of the sea, sunrises, and sunsets. Around the area, there are two beaches with a temperature of 22 degrees in the summer, they could even reach 24 Cº in August. One of them is named Somorrostro beach, which is about 552 meters long and considered to be a main symbol of the “new Barcelona”. And for a nightcap, duck back into the heart of Barceloneta. It seems there’s a bar on every street corner but a few to recommend include Café de los Angelitos (Carrer de l’Almirall Cervera 26), Ké Bar (Carrer del Baluard 54) and Absenta Bar (Carrer de Sant Carles 36), which serves a range of absinthes though you do than risk your night ending up in basques, thongs, and stockings. And Opium Barcelona is the most famous club in the area and one of the best in the city. It has a terrace on the beachfront and is especially popular among tourists and international people living in Barcelona. It opens every day of the week.

8) Gracia

From busy sports bars to authentic tapas bars and classy cocktail bars to cheap wine bars, there is a bar for everyone in Gracia. First up on the list of the best bars in Gracia is this super cool wine bar situated right in the heart of the neighborhood on the main street Carrer de Verdi. The wines at Bar Salvatge are all natural, which basically means that there’s nothing added or taken away during the harvesting or fermentation processes. So there’s no chemicals or fancy filtration involved. Another top-notch tapas bar, again right on the main street in Gracia, you simply have to visit Gasterea when in Barcelona. There’s not a lot of space but from the moment you step through the door, the bar team makes you feel like you’ve just walked into an old friend’s house. The service is exceptional and the food and drink fantastic. Lastly, possibly the most popular nightclub in Gràcia, Duvet is a retro-looking venue that plays dance music and 90’s classics. Despite not being the priciest nightclub in Barcelona, a night at Duvet will make you spend a good amount of cash.
